Love vibrators? Then you’ll probably love Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new movie Hysteria that recently premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival. Set in the 1880s, this romantic comedy gives us the inside scoop on how and why the very first vibrator *came* to be.
Hehe.
Turns out two doctors from London invented it to cure women suffering from a condition called hysteria; otherwise known as “97% of men don’t know where my clitoris is.”
As a result of her role in the film, Maggie was sent an assortment of vibrators from London sex shops. So what does a girl like Maggie Gyllenhaal do with one too many vibrators? She LENDS THEM to her friends.
Guess it’s true when they say that vibrators, and Maggie Gyllenhaal, are a girl’s best friend. Oh wait, they didn’t say that. I did.
By the time I finished the movie I’d been sent maybe 15 vibrators by different people in London with vibrator stores. It was a pleasant surprise. So I have this incredible collection, and I actually use like one or two of them. I lend them to my friends, and they’ll take them for six months at a time. [While shootingHysteria] I was sent a lot of vibrators from different sex stores in England while we were shooting the movie. I shared them around. – quote and orgasmic entertainment news courtesy of Gothamist
Sorry Maggie, but the chances of me returning any vibrator you lend me are HELL NO.
No, I did not get paid to write or promote this movie. Yes, I know this is not the typical thing I write about on Sex Lies and Bacon. BUT IT’S A MOVIE ABOUT VIBRATORS, SO SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTHS AND WATCH THE TRAILER BELOW.
You’ll probably thank me.
