Wow. Thanks Blanche! That’s why I write here. I started this blog because I felt alone and like no one understood what I was going through. Now I don’t feel so alone because I’ve built a great support system for myself, but I keep writing so other people who are going through similar things feel less alone and hopefully have an “AHA” moment along the way that helps them somehow. This is one of the reasons I stayed with my ex for longer than I should have: fear of having to share my daughter (I’d already realized I was sharing my husband) with another woman. But, as you said, you are his mother, and, honestly, he’ll always know that and put you first. Almost everyone I talk to raised by a single mom has this immense respect and love for the woman who carried them through life. Chocolate chip pancakes is not going to take that away.

This other woman will be another adult to care about your son (which can’t hurt), and you’ll see how long the six-month relationship lasts. It’s not like your ex is one for fidelity.
