About

A sometimes true story, this is an account of one woman’s life changing  journey after becoming a single parent.

Whether it’s fact or fiction, the lesson remains the same:

“Singleness shakes and shoves us into taking the leap from wanting someone to being someone.” – Judy Ford

In the two + years that followed my separation my life became a sitcom. Some episodes were funny, others were depressing. All of them taught me something about myself.

There was the episode where I became a lesbian; the day I beat my son’s father with an empty box of condoms and finally sympathized with Lorena Bobbit; the one where I got my groove on in the front seat of a pickup truck, next to a field full of children playing baseball on a Sunday afternoon; and who could ever forget the time  I was mounted like a horse.

Each story is a chance for you to walk in my shoes, to experience my pain, to laugh like you’ve never laughed before, to learn what it’s like to live without inhibitions, and, most importantly, to be inspired by me.

Being a single woman isn’t easy. Being a single mother is even harder. The world is filled with preconceived notions of who you are, what you’ve done and who you’ll never be. It takes a lot of strength and courage to rise above those stereotypes, find your voice, and prove to yourself that you’re not just another statistic; that you can stand alone.

And you can look damn good doing it!

On October 14th 2011, Melysa launched The Fabulously Single Project, a 365 day journey to loving herself. You can read more about that HERE
